Hotel & Restaurant Association of Eastern India (HRAEI) is one of the largest Association of the hospitality industry in India. Established on July 18, 1961. The HRAEI’s mission is to represent the hotel and restaurant industry in 12 states and one union territory — Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, and West Bengal. This is the only organisation in the hospitality industry that represents the maximum number of states in India. In the past three years, the number of members of the organisation has increased from 300 to 1,500.
HRAEI plays a key role in advocacy and negotiation with the government on behalf of its members. We organise delegation with various state governments to offer ‘industry status’ to the hospitality industry so that more hotels and restaurants are developed, availing soft loans and other amenities to our industry.
The Association takes a leading part to promote tourism in the Eastern region to attract domestic and international visitors, creating a favourable business environment for the industry and the vision for the future. We take important initiatives, organise various seminars and workshops with government support to develop better infrastructure to improve the standard of hospitality services in the region. We encourage more youngsters to take up entrepreneurship in the hospitality business and also organise workshops for Skill Development for young aspirants.
We always encourage sustainability and responsible tourism practices, such as preventing the use of single-use plastic and scientific waste handling among our members. We hold workshops and training programmes among our members to use eco-friendly materials and stop food wastage. To make Eastern India a more attractive destination we are promoting eco-tourism in a big way. We are working in tandem with respective state governments to improve connectivity in remote and unexplored areas.
Our number is our strength and voice. Our first and foremost target is to grow into a bigger association of over 5000 members. We wish to play a key role in the formulation of tourism and hospitalisation policies in the region. We wish to work together with government representatives to make eastern India a more popular tourist destination in India. We wish to expose the unexplored horizon of the East to national and foreign tourists.

HRAEI serves as a voice for the hospitality sector, addressing issues related to regulation, taxation, training, and development. It is also involved in facilitating tourism growth, networking opportunities, and the overall upliftment of the sector.
HRAEI was established in 1961 with the vision to create a strong platform for hotels and restaurants in eastern India. Since its inception, the association has grown steadily, gaining recognition from various stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism industry. Over the decades, HRAEI has been instrumental in addressing the concerns of its members and ensuring that hospitality businesses in the region operate smoothly, complying with industry standards and government regulations.
